South African Natural Environment

The Hangklip Heritage Trust - a local environmental trust which focuses on the preservation and conservation of the coastal zone of the Kogelberg from Rooiels to the Botriver Esturary, Western Cape, South Africa.
The Santam/Cape Argus Ukuvuka Firestop Campaign.  Ukuvuka, a Xhosa word meaning "to wake up", was initiated as an effective way to develop an integrated fire management plan to reduce the possibility of reoccurrence.
Cape Action for People and the Environment (C.A.P.E.) - A partnership for sustaining life in the fynbos and adjacent shores
Cape Nature Conservation (CNC) is concerned with the conservation of the South African natural environment within the western Cape.  This area includes the fynbos biome.

Cape West Coast Biosphere Reserve. Evidence of the past, picking up the pieces. The need to establish a network of biosphere reserves throughout the fynbos biome, to promote the sustainable utilization of this unique area, has been identified.  This has been the rationale behind the establishment of the Cape West Coast Biosphere Reserve.
Conservation Planning Unit. The CPU is a core C.A.P.E project aimed at generating and distributing environmental sensitivity maps to guide sustainable development and planning, and to highlight important areas for the conservation of biodiversity.
Hermanus, heart of the Whale Coast.  Hermanus is built along the shores of Walker Bay near the Southern most tip of Africa. Magnificent mountains watch over the town which is home of the Southern Right Whale. Nature lovers from all over the world visit Hermanus to view these magnificent creatures from the best land based whale watching destination in the world.

UWC's version of the popular South African Enviro-Facts developed in response to a growing need amongst South Africans for information about their environment.
50/50 and its VeldFocus segment, South Africa's popular environmental programme that recognises that Humans are also an integral part of the environment and therefore also have a right to use Nature - but not to abuse it. Hence the title 50/50. It implies that there should be a balance between what Nature has on offer and what we Humans can take out.
