| The effects of the tidal cycle produce different
physical conditions at different levels on the seashore. Organisms which live on the seashore are subject to the stresses of desiccation, high and low temperatures, bright light, and salinity fluctuations. Wave action is also an important physical factor affecting organisms in the littoral zone. |
