| The most obvious effect of being uncovered at low
tide is that organisms are liable to experience water loss. When the air is dry, the temperature high, and a strong wind is blowing, the threat of dessication is greatest. Not surprisingly, many seashore organisms possess characteristics which are considered adaptations to reduce or tolerate water loss. |
