Birds that fly in the water
The wings of the Jackass Penguin may not seem very functional in the air, but they are superbly adapted to flying. But penguins don't fly in the air, they fly underwater. It is quite a site to see, a  penguin like a black and white dart wearing a mercury coat zooming past in search of a fish to eat. To a fish, the gentle seeming Jackass Penguin is a lethal predator.

A few days ago, I was snorkeling at Boulders. A penguin cruised past me about 2 metres down, charged into a school of mullet, grabbed one and disappeared in a trail of tiny silver bubbles in the distance.
