The roles played by herbivores in natural communities are
many and varied, and I have only touched the surface of this
fascinating area of study. Nevertheless, I hope that when you are
next out in the veld, on the seashore, or in your own yard, you
will consider the herbivores present there, and look for evidence
of their activity.
