On-line Survey for Education Service Providers:
INforEEP has now made available an on-line questionnaire on the use of Internet
technologies within EE. It is aimed at Educational Service providers and environmental
specialists within the Western Cape and considers some of the following issues:
connectivity patterns within the sector, the establishment of quality standards for
on-line information / services and how service providers could integrate networking
technologies into their outreach activities. You may also request print-based copies by
contacting us on Tel. 021 959 30 88.
The Cape Action Plan for the Environment (CAPE): Although this resource may appeal more to environmental
practitioners, has been included under the 'For Learners section' as an example of an
action-orientated project. We believe that by informing learners of such initiatives, they
will develop an understanding of how real environmental challenges are taken up by local
organizations.
The Environmental Justice Networking Forum
recently published a guide on how to take action against landfill site operators who's

The 18th Annual Conference of the Environmental
Education Association of Southern Africa (EEASA) will take place at the University of
Swaziland in July 2000.
The Enviro-Wise radio site now hosts an on-line questionnaire for those who
would like to forward their views on local environmental issues. Data from this
questionnaire will serve as orientating information for more innovative programmes. Have your say now !

A Discussion Forum exploring key
issues relating to the use of networking technologies within environmental education is
now on-line. Here you can have your say on the role of the Internet and other
communication technologies within environmental education. It is hoped that such a forum
will create new routes for the electronic media as well as new partnerships between
educationists and technologists. When you access the forum for the first time, a
personalized username and password will be asigned to you.

We have created an on-line version of the Enviro-Days
2000 directory which will provide you with information on how to develop
Learning Programme Units (LPU's) around important days within the local and international
environmental calendar. This resource will be useful for planning active learning
activities at your school.

The Marine and Coastal Educators Network (MCEN) directory is
now on-line. This directory is indexed by province and provides a list of service
providers that are involved in coastal or marine environmental education in South Africa.

Taking Eco-ideas beyond Earth Day 2000 is a collection of practical ideas for
environmental projects. This page was adapted from the Earth Day Network's
Eco-Guide.
The Cape Metropolitan Council is
currently planning the first ever Youth
Environmental School 2000 (YES! 2000) for Cape Town which will bring together
over 40 environmental presenters to lecture on various environmental topics. YES 2000 will
take place between 30 May and 3 June at William Porter School and promises to be exciting,
informative and interactive. INforEEP will host the educational content that will be
emerge from the event.

The Enviro-Glossary has been updated with important terms
and concepts such as acid rain, earth system and greenhouse effect,
to mention but a few. New additions are denoted by the symbol [*].

We've updated our Enviro-directory with a new entry on the EnviroEds
EE consultancy.

We now have a guide
to marine careers available. This guide is a shortened version
of a booklet of the Department of Environmental
Affairs and Tourism and exposes the reader to a wide range of career opportunities
for people who wish to work in South Africa's marine environment.
