Published information on the Corallinales varies enormously in scientific quality, has a long history, and is widely scattered in books, journals, and other media. Version 2 of The Corallinales (Rhodophyta): A Catalogue of References contains over 3500 references to published works on the coralline red algae. It replaces Version 1, which contained about 2600 entries and was first posted in August 1995. Although the scope of subject matter has been broadened in Version 2, there still is a decided emphasis on taxonomic publications dealing with nongeniculate taxa. The long-term aim, however, is to provide a comprehensive catalogue dealing with all aspects of Corallinales biology.
